Salts Worldwide

Sea salt is sea salt, which is created by the evaporation of seawater over millions of years. It’s frequently used as a cooking seasoning, cooking utensils’ seasoning and even for preserving food. It’s also known as black truffle salt, pink sea salt or dead sea salt. As a cooking agent, it helps to add subtle seasoning and flavor to food without much fat, and its non-moisturizing effect makes it particularly healthy for people watching their waistlines. It’s also an important part of the sea food’s eco-friendly, “green” status.

Salt has many historical and cultural uses. Indeed, the history of salt dates back to Paleolithic times. In fact, the Egyptians were one of the first people to use salt as a way to make bread.

Salt has had many important historical and religious uses too. Because of its moisture-absorbing and deodorizing properties, salt was used in the early civilizations to control body odor, as well as to make food taste better. In fact, the Bible refers to eating table salt – as being like table salt (what we now call table salt). In fact, ancient civilizations considered salt to be a symbol of authority and luxury – something to be taken very seriously indeed. Early Chinese and Persian medications, such as Amalaki (Cayenne) and AHAs (Bayazotheli Acidam), were based on the effects of salt on the kidney. Ayurvedic texts referred to salt as the “manly” herb, indicating the importance of sodium in men’s health.

The ancient Egyptians may have been the first to produce and use black sea salt. Black sea salt was used by the Egyptians for treating several conditions, including high blood pressure, indigestion, asthma, heart disease and eczema. It appears that the ancients thought there were some sea salts with medicinal properties. They therefore created and traded black sea salt as an important part of their medical system.

Ayurvedic texts from India mentioned two types of salt – the black sea salt and the brown sea salt. Each type of salt had its own name, as well as its content. The black sea salt was further divided into fine-quality rock salt and coarse rock salt. Both types of salt had to be procured from natural sources. The fine-quality sea salt was most commonly obtained from seawater and was used for cooking and as a table salt. The coarse salt could be found anywhere – in rocks, along coasts, in lakes and rivers and was used for cooking and for everyday purposes as well.

Today, there are about a hundred varieties of sea salt available on the market. Each variety has its own qualities. Some varieties are better for using in baking and cooking while others can be used for table salt. If you have decided to buy table salt, make sure that it is kosher and has a long shelf life. Today there is even artificial sea salt available in the market. However, it is important to know which kind of sea salt you want to buy.

When buying table salt you need to know its usage. For example, table salt is mostly used for cooking and baking. But these salts can also be used for different purposes like in cleaning clothes or dishes, in the preservation of meat, etc. There are also special products called kosher salt. These products are made by mixing kosher salt with baking soda and then adding a special additive to make it kosher.

Although sea salt is considered the salt of the sea, it should not be confused with table salt. Table salt does not contain minerals but sea salt does. Therefore, sea salt can be used instead of table salt when cooking. You can also purchase this salt at stores that sell groceries and other household items. But it should be noted that sea salt is more expensive than table salt. Also, it is advisable not to leave it on open areas as it tends to absorb moisture from surrounding areas.
